Marais. Grocery markets open on Sunday?
Dear Fodorites,
I am lucky enough to be traveling to Paris (my fifth visit!) in early December (DH is working. I am Christmas shopping). The only slight hiccup is that we arrive on Sunday mid-afternoon. Our apartment is in the Marais, and I'm hoping we'll be able to pick up enough provisions for a dinner (rotisserie chicken, bread, cheese, wine, and so forth)? Are there any markets open, or should I plan that we eat out? Thanks! |
I know the Monoprix on Rue St Antoine is not open. The G20 at 115 Rue St Antoine is open from 9 am - 1 pm.
Miss Manon is also open for prepared baguette sandwiches, quiche, pastries, etc. Beyond those locations I can't recall what is open. Good luck! |
Market streets and street markets will operate until 13:30. Most supermarkets are also open until 13:30. However, most Monoprix stores are not open on Sunday because they are "variety stores" and not just a supermarket.

Good info for my trip also - thanks.

The Richard Lenoir at Placa Basille may stillbe open when you arrive. They have nmost everything you would want. There is a super market onRue st. Antoine near no 92 across the street that is open all day

Picard is open on Sundays, usually for a couple of hours. Try this to find one close to apartment. You should find some goodies that will hold you over.

We were there in April and I noticed that they were closed.

Who was closed? Picard?
|
Thank you, everyone. It seems Picard will be closed by the time we arrive, so fingers crossed that the Marche Richard Lenoir or the market on Rue St. Antoine will be open.

The 1330 Sunday closing is now enforced. I think you will be able to buy rotisserie chicken and other traiteur items, and you can find milk, coffee, etc in the small mostly Tunisian shops. There is a well-stocked one in the street between the Place des Vosges and the Rue St Antoine.

Ackislander, thank you. A rotisserie chicken and some overprice wine, bread, milk and coffee is all we need to carry us into the following morning. From my preliminary research, some of the Christmas markets will also be underway, offering up all sorts of goodies.
