Mappy lists ferry from Helsingborg - Helsingor
We're thinking of driving from Gothenburg to Copenhagen. I ran directions on Mappy. A ferry is listed from Helsingborg to Helsingor. How can I find out info about this ferry? Anybody know anything about costs, times, etc...
Thanks |
We took this ferry two years ago for an afternoon jaunt to Sweden from Denmark. As I remember they ran like every 30 minutes, we had no reservations and it was not a problem. The crossing is very quick and runs late into the night. I believe it is operated by Scandlines, check out their site http://www.scandlines.dk/microsite/com/ for more information.

Two firms run car ferries between Helsingborg and Helsingør:

Thanks for the information. I've been looking, and we'll probably go from Copenhagen to Oslo. Again, Mappy is showing ferries. This time, it shows 2 ferries. The instructions state to "Exit from Helsingor and take the ferry." Then to "Exit and take the Knutpunkten. Then enter into Helsingborg."
Is this indeed 2 separate ferries? Or, is it the same line as Helsingborg-Helsingor? I looked at the Scandlines site and I couldn't tell. I appreciate the advise. |
The ferry from København to Oslo is an overnight service run by DFDS (www.dfdsseaways.com).
Knutpunkten is the location of Scandlines' terminal in Helsingborg. These instructions refer to the Helsingør-Helsingborg ferry. Both Scandlines and HH Ferries run frequent competing services on this route. |
Now it makes sense. Thanks so much!

We took the ferry from Helsingor to Helsingborg last summer, just drove up, got in line and got on the ferry. The most interesting thing about it was that a large percentage of the passengers appeared to be Swedes with cars and vans packed with beer and liquor they bought in Denmark because of the extremely high price of such things in Sweden. The streets of Helsingor were filled with liquor stores catering to this trade.
