maple syrup as hostess gift
 

Hostess gifts for visiting students we heard should be native to your state. Maple syrup is what we have. Do they use it in Seville,or will it just go to waste?

I think it is an excellent idea for a Spanish family, throw in some strawberry preserves, whipped cream, pancake mix and show them how to use over breakfast and they will be extra delighted!

Well some will disagree, I think maple syrup is a fine gift especially if it's going somewhere where they don't have it.

I don't see why they wouldn't use it but you might want to send a little blurb about how it's used locally and maybe even a couple of recipes that use it.

Recipes and explanations how to use it are an excellent idea. A demonstration is even better, you could offer to make pancakes with maple syrup for them.

I think maple syrup is wonderful, but I just want you to think about one thing.....a friend of mine is British and when she was living in the US for a while, she said it took her some time to get used to the taste since it is so different and she had never had it before. I have hesitated taking it to Italy to our family because of that. I do know that they love American peanut butter. But they are now getting that in Italy so that gift is out for me now.
