Maple Syrup
Is this something easily bought in Italy? We're taking gifts for a couple of people and thought this would be a good one but want to make sure it's "unique".
|
Dear Kathy,
I've never seen it there - and if you get it with packaging which reflects the origins of the syrup, that'll make it all the better.
good thinking!

I live in Switzerland and can quite easily buy 100% pure candian maple syprup. Don't know about Italy though...
|
Maple sugar candy is much more compact, portable, and unique.

Maple Syrup is a great idea, also include a pancake recipie. I don't believe they eat pancakes (as we know them) in Europe. We did this for some English friends and they love them and make them all the time!
|
If you give a pancake recipe, please think about including an inexpensive set of measuring cups and spoons. They don't use the same measurements at all in Italy and will be greatful for them.

Hi Kathy, Maple syrup is a great gift. I brought 2 bottles to friends in France about a month ago, and they seemed very pleased. Apparently it is expensive and the bottles are small if purchased in Europe. I bought the syrup at my local grocery store. I wrapped the bottles in bubble-wrap and put them in my carry-on bag. It is definetly a unique gift! kathyd

we bring maple syrup to the relatives in italy. it is not easily obtainable there. they seem to love it. get the stuff in cans(PT) it packs and travels better

I sent maple syrop at Christmas time to two areas of
france. When I saw them the following summer, I asked how they liked it. Both didn't. Thought it too sweet. So I settled on Casswell-Masey soap the next year as soap is very expence there
