If you know the metro station you're interested in go to www.ratp.fr. Select the large i for information in the middle of the screen, then near the bottom of the next page select Paris. Select the metro station and a detialed map will appear.

This won't help your planning ahead of time - but the best one I got was one the hotels gave away for free. (It didn't have every little street or detail but was the easiest to follow and navigate on foot around the city.)

Unlike the map I got for free at my hotel, the map that tears out of the back of the Frommers Paris guidebook DID have every little street. I found it indispensible. I considered getting a Streewise, but it's hard to write on those laminated maps.
