Map for driving around Crete
 

Hi,
We are spending just under 14 days in Crete and want to hire a car and travel around - can anyone recommend a good map? We prefer a map to GPS.

Pat, what my travel pals & I used in 4+ times driving was the map put out by ROAD editions ... www.road..gr. We bought ours at the airport newsstand, but if you wan it beforehand I assume you can order it online. I think I already gave you this - http://www.explorecrete.com/crete-ma.../Crete-eot.png - my favorite online map. It's great for advance planning and it will show the "trap" for gps-only ... that the same village name can recur in different prefectures. My pal "stanbr" has related how GPS put him about 40 miles out of the way in the Pelopponese because of this! BTW, he & bride are in Crete right now and may do a road-trip report here or on Trip Advisor, keep your eyes peeled... his tips are Gold.
