Man's packing list, anyone?

Anyone have a list for a one month trip during the summer and/or fall?

NeoPatrick Sep 26th, 2007 04:11 PM

Same as a list for a week to 10 days. Laundry is the answer.

suze Sep 26th, 2007 04:29 PM

1 pair shoes
1 pair sneakers
2 pair pants
1 pair jeans (fall)
3 t-shirts
3 short sleeve shirts
2 long sleeve shirts (fall)
1 long length walking shorts (summer)
1 sweater or jacket (fall)
1 something to sleep in/robe
assorted socks and underwear
shaving/toiletries kit

NeoPatrick Sep 26th, 2007 06:39 PM

If you want to pack light, forget the "something to sleep in".

I've never traveled with a robe either -- but I've never done a shared bath, which might make a difference.

Contact me directly and I will send my list.

NeoPatrick Sep 26th, 2007 06:47 PM

wow. Someone has a secret list he doesn't want to share with all of us?

janisj Sep 26th, 2007 07:20 PM

fmpden: How would this forum work if everyone said "e-mail me and we can have a secret conversation"? Not very well. Play fair.

RonZ: Suze's list (w/ or w/o the robe) is a good foundation list. You can modify it for any special needs. Here is a summer list I give out to guys at my packing programs.

o Wash Cloth
o Toiletries
o Underwear
o Pajamas and/or light weight travel robe optional
o Slippers or slipper socks optional
o Socks
o Sport coat or light jacket
o Casual slacks or jeans
o Dressy slacks optional
o 2 to 3 T's/polos
o 2 to 3 shirts
o Shoes
o Walking shorts
o Swimwear

No, NeoPatrick, it is just easier to send it as an attached list than to copy it into this post. Also, you can have it if you ask nice.

Shirt, pants, shoes, credit card, ATM card.

caroline_edinburgh Sep 27th, 2007 04:16 AM

For anything between 2 & 4 weeks, for DH I pack :-

linen suit (which he wears en route)
2 pairs cotton trousers
2 pairs smart-ish shorts
7 black t shirts
7 white t shirts
all his pants & socks
2 pairs swimming trunks
semi-smart nubuck shoes
deck shoes
pool shoes (double as slippers)
beach towel if necessary
toiletries

Laundry of t shirts & smalls is obviously still required but not too frequently.

Where are you going and what are you planning to do? For example, my husband's packing list for a September trip to Bergen, Oslo and northern Scotland would be very different from his packing list for Athens, Rome and Sicily.

"Pajamas and/or light weight travel robe optional."

I haven't worn pajamas in years. I always sleep in the nude.

Did you hear the story about the guy in Orlando who was sleeping in the nude? He got up in the middle of the night to use the toilet, and opened the wrong door. When the door closed, he realized he was in the hallway, naked. I guess that's one way to get service from the front desk quickly.

Shorts, sleeveless shirts, fishing shirts, white sneakers, sandals and most of all a speedo style swimsuit! :)

Ron,

the most important thing of all; don't forget your rubbers and have a great trip.

"Something to sleep in..." that something would hardly fit into a suitcase.

RonZ Sep 27th, 2007 06:16 AM

Hah...good one
