Ann41,
My Saturday just got better. It would even get better if Arsenal lost today.
Next 2 weeks will tell all. ManU plays Real on Tuesday, Newcastle next Saturday and the defining game for the league championship, Arsenal the following Tuesday. Tough schedule, but the way they're playing, they might just do it!
Final whistle just blew - ManU 4 / Liverpool 0 !
Unbelievable!

It was a rough weekend. Yes, Liverpool were crap, but it's tough playing 10 against 12 (Mike Riley is quite the goalscorer). The referee completely ruined what could have been a great match--regardless of who won--by red carding Hyppia. It was definitely a penalty, but not a sending-off offense. Then Riley gifted United the second penalty. Lpool had basically given up when the final two goals were scored.

United's been awarded 11 penalties at home this season--6 of them by Mike Riley. At least Liverpool is pretty much assured of having that red card overturned.

There's always next year! Hope your boys realize they have to play a whole hell of a lot better to beat Real. Unless Riley's officiating.

Realistically, I see Arsenal winning the league. Looking at Man U's run-in, and if they continue playing the way they did against Liverpool, I just don't see how they will take maximum points.

Ann41,
I wii have to disagree with you on the first penalty and red card. VN was clearly held and tripped within the penalty box. The second penalty was questionable if only because maybe it should have been a free kick just outside of the box. Regardless, MU was the better side.
Getting ready for tomorrow!!!
Go ManU!!!!!

If you're disagreeing with me on the first penalty, then you're saying it wasn't a penalty. I said it was clearly a penalty, and also clearly not a red card. It was a clumsy challenge by Hyppia, but not a sending off offense. And even all my husband's friends, who unfortunately are ManU supporters, agree. That's not to say they didn't enjoy the red card! But they were all upset at the football ManU was playing, particularly given their opponent tonight. They should have rolled over Lpool with 10 men, particularly with both Hyppia and Henchoz out, and at no point did they dominate. This is what 4 staunch United fans said--not me.

Can't wait to watch Ronaldo tie Neville and Ferdinand up in knots.

Ann41,
That's what I meant, a penalty AND a send-off. If you can't send off a player for holding and tripping within the penalty box, then when can you?
Getting ready to watch the game in few hours. I beleive that we will get out of there with a win, or at the least a tie.
Talk to you tomorrow,
GO MANU!!!!!

Xenos--cheers! I love to watch great football, particularly played against ManU!

Life really is sweet sometimes, isn't it? And Real Madrid's in a class all of their own. Fergie's one to talk about fixing draws! Look at ManU's last group. Disgraceful.

So I guess I can't complain about the obvious penalty (even the British press think is was a clear penalty).

AA, when's the last time you saw a player red carded doing what Hyppia did? In the Everton v. Newcastle match on Sunday? No, the defender got a yellow card. Hmmm. BTW, one of our friends who said Hyppia shouldn't have been sent off, used to be a part of United's youth team.

I thought it might be a bit quiet here.

As I said in a previous post "beaten like a ginger step-child"

Mind you Real were fantastic. But they should have had a clear penalty and the laughing gnome (barthez) should have been sent off.

They will be absolutely mullered at Old Trafford too. The away goal by Ruud "why the long face" VN will be to no avail.

Having said that I would be very happy to see them win the league to stop the Woolwich pikeys.

Being the eternal optomist, I boldly predict a huge win at Old Trafford.
This is the only statement I have at this moment.
Somehow I feel like the Iraqi minister at the press conference during the last few days.

OH YEAH!!!!
We'll take it. 3 points ahead(I know Arsenal has a game on us), but I still like the position we're in. The PL is ours if we just play our game, the CL, well, we need to play a flawless game net Wednesday, but it's possible.
Go ManU!!!!!

Your boys were outstanding against Newcastle, I must admit. I haven't seen today's match yet, but I don't understand why Ferguson was "jubliant", according to the BBC, with the result, since Arsenal has a game in hand and better goal difference.

Bend it Like Raul
