Best to book Olympic online for your flight from Athens to Paros, Maburch, and DO NOT delay -- only 1 flight on most days and not a big plane. Not served by other airlines.. There is no price advantage in doing a round trip. If you are on Santorini, many MORE flights back to Athens... on Olympic, on Aegean Air (which has better prices usually, except on high-demand days), and also Sky Express.

such a great trip report, thank you. May I ask a silly question? What is "DH"? as in:
We went down towards the castle each evening before dinner to see the sunset too, and DH got some amazing pictures. But, then again, every picture in Oia was amazing!

Alas, blueberry, you have encountered one of the "cutesy" traditions that some Fodorites still follow. I don't know WHO started it, but years ago, some trip-reporters started using "DH" to mean "Dear Husband," and "DS" and "DD" for "Dear Son" and "Dear Daughter". There have even been sightings of "DSIL" (Dear Son-in-Law") and (God help us) "DSO" (Dear Significant Other). Oddly enough, this practice is followed only by Female Fodorites. I have never once seen a male Fodor Forum poster use "DW". Does this tell us something?
No amount of tut-tutting will discourage these D-ites. Just ignore it, and be grateful that the practice has waned among long-time Fodorites of inquiring after the health of each others' pets.

Actually there are three flights per day from Athens to Paros (fewer in winter), but I agree, book online on http://www.olympicairlines.com/.

We just wanted to let you know we followed your exact trip to Paros, Santorini and Athens from October 14-23. The only change we made was that we stayed at Aris Caves in Santorini. Everything about the trip was perfect including the weather. All your directions, suggestions, hotels and restaurants were so helpful. Oh, we stayed at the Electra in Athens. Can't remember if you did that. Thank you so much. I tell people all the time I planned my trip from a stranger on Fodor's Forum. I love this site.

Delightful report! An Aussie airline may be offering cheap flights to Rome and Athens and, with some persuasion from Greek friends and this report, I am leaning towards Greece rather than Italy for a change if this comes about. Thanks!

I am hoping to go to greece with my daughter possibly in OCtober which airlines did you use from the midwest ? I actually will most likely meet her in NY and go from there as she lives in San Francisco I in Missouri.
Your trip report was wonderful and we will probably pick Paros and stay put for 5 days soakin in the culture.

Chutes, Late September would be better than October, because activities and such really start to slow down in October. With only 5 days (only 5???) for your stay (is it worth the $1000++ air fare???) you cannot waste a minute, not to mention 4 or 5 hours, on a ferry ride.
Thus your best bet would be to land and immediately take a flight to Paros. THus, your best flight from NY is the Delta nonstop that arrives about 9 or 9:30 am in Athens. That way, you could get an 11:30 Olympic Flight to Paros, and be there by 12:10... there's also a 3:15 pm flight. These flights are currently available on Saturday 9/25 and 1st weekend of October --- but you must be warned these flights fill up FAST because they only hold 50 passengers ...
I'm just telling you this because you are planning a trip with a really tight schedule; you also might consider flying BACK from Paros to Athens.
