The grandmasters palace has just re-opened in Valletta. Is it worth the visit if we are pressed for time? Only 1 day on a cruise.

With only oneday on Malta I think you are better off splitting your time between a walking tour (self guided ok) of Valletta, Mdina, and maybe a seaside lunch in Marsaxlokk.

With such a short time, I'd walk and explore Valletta instead, look at the sublime views, have lunch somewhere outdoors and soak up the history. It's an interesting and beautiful country.
