Malpensa hotel without air noise

My husband and I are looking for a hotel with charm near, but not next to the Malpensa airport. We will have a car so driving a half our to the airport the next morning for our 10:30 am flight isn't a problem. Any suggestions on hotels outside the 10-mile radius of MXP?

Thank you!

We stayed at the Villa Malpensa which is only 1-2 kilometers from the airport, and we didn't hear any plane or airport noise. It's a little pricey (175 euros at that time), and the attitude in the dining room is a bit snooty for us; but the hotel was very comfortable and our dinner there was very good. You could turn in your rental car the day before and take taxis (very reasonable) back and forth.

Thanks for the idea. We may stay there. I was hoping to have one last night in small but cozy Italian style hotel that didn't surround an airport.

When you stay at the Villa Malpensa, you don't even notice the airport is so close. A great place to stay for a last night, and although I consider it to be on the more expensive side, I thought it was worthwhile. It's not exactly small, but it is well appointed, and the rooms are huge and comfortable. If I remember correctly, I do believe that there is a pool, if you are there in the summer, and nice grounds. The restaurant is good, though we were there 4 years ago so I don't recall how much it cost or what we ate for dinner. However, I do still remember the gelato for dessert - served with an assortment of fresh fruit and chocolate sauce, I thought it was great.

Whoa! Chocolate sauce, I'm there. Sounds delicious, but pricey.

We stayed at Hotel Villa Malpensa a few weeks ago before a morning flight back to the U.S. and recommend it for its location. We didn't hear any airplane noise, and the free shuttle to the airport was a painless 5 minutes. My only complaint is that the staff was bordering on rude. In fact, we chose not to eat in the restaurant (and there's nothing else nearby), assuming that we'd be treated poorly and not wishing to spend our last night in Italy that way. Nevertheless, I would stay there again for the location and comfortable room.

I've heard from many posts about the rude experiences at Villa Malpensa. Someone reviewed the restaurant as overpriced and not very tasty. I don't think I will stay there because of the bad reviews.

I would like to recommend to you the Hotel La Portetta. It is a charming, three star hotel in the village of Oleggio, which is 11 KM (7 miles) west of the airport.

We stayed there last May on our final night in the lake district, and it is a real find.

The rate for a double with large breakfast is 103 Euro. It is a small, but lovely family-owned property.

The hotel restaurant is very special, and the food quite reasonable. It is a very popular spot---jammed on a Sunday night with large and small family groups when we dined there.

No airport noise, and you drive to the airport quickly on a two-lane, back road---no hassling with the Autostrada!!

The web site is:
http://www.portetta.it

Try it---I'm sure you will be pleased.

Georgine: That looks like a nice alternative, I will have to consider it if I am ever in need of a place to stay near the Malpensa airport. Thank you.
