Malpensa/Details on bus to Como

Saw one posting that mentioned a direct bus from Terminal 2 to Cumo, one hour ride. If so, much better than going into Milan, then taking train to Cumo. Anyone know how to get details or schedule for such a bus option? Thanks

TTT again, because I'm interested myself in your question, as we will be arriving in Malpensa next year, and would also prefer not to go into Milan.

Has anyone taken the bus that Tom mentions, and can advise?

I have personal experience. There are six daily buses (only two on Sundays) from Malpensa Terminals 1 and 2 to the Como Bus Station on the waterfront: departure times Malpensa 9:20 (also Sunday), 11:00, 12:20 (also Sunday), 14:15, 16:45 and 19:25. The 12:20 bus goes all the way to Menaggio (2 hour trip). Journey time to Como: 1 hour. Fare: Lire 21,000. Comfortable, modern air-conditioned coaches. Most passengers board at Terminal 1, which is the brand new building opened in 2000 (Boarding platform no. 13 outside the arrivals area, beyond the circular road). Tickets on board. At Como, there are hourly connections to Bellagio, Tremezzo, Menaggio and other lake towns. Current schedules found at internet site of Como Bus Lines: www.sptcomo.it

Thanks to GAC, what a thorough response. This is very helpful.

By the way, I am new at this. What is "topping" as mentioned in the first message? Thanks,Tom

Tom, someone brought your question up to the top of the page for you, so more readers could see it. By "answering" your question, it got "topped".

Tom - I discovered this direct bus while waiting for my mom to arrive from Boston ( I had come via JFK - long story). This was such a great way to deal with jet lag and a new country. The bus driver we had was the best - he took us to the ferry dock and practically hand delivered us to our ferry. Altho I don't think he was supposed to he took everyone in the bus to their exact destination whether it be hotel or ferry or B&B, etc. And it couldn't have been easier to figure out - especially since you now have times and departure point. Good luck and have fun!
