MALLORCA - ALCUDIA or CALA MILLOR ?

We are a couple and will have a car - Which would be a better place to base ourselves for 3 days in June for exploring NE and SE Mallorca - Alcudia or Cala Millor ? (and which has the better beaches?)
thanks

Cala Millor is more centrally situated on the east coast of the island, while Alcudia is on the north east. Alcudia is the larger of the two and has some interest in terms of an old town and Roman remains. Cala Millor is a tourist spot and not much else, but a better beach.

A straight choice between the two for your purpose would be Cala Millor.

Puerto Alcudia has some great beaches, some of the best I have seen in Europe but overall its a disappointing place. On the otherhand, Puerto Pollenca which is just round the bay is a much better proposition. Some of the best beaches are probably in the south east, but the northern part of Majorca is more spectacular ... and its nearer to some lovely villages like Soller.
