I need some recommendations on the best spots in Mallorca. We'll be there for 4 days in July and would like to experience great beaches and night life. Curious if we should stay in Palma or is everything relatively close to get to if we opt to stay out by the beach. Also, what are the best beaches in Mallorca?

SFBoys - If you want lively nightlife the resorts close to Palma might offer the most options - e.g. Magaluf, Arenal ...

The best spots of Majorca are best reached by car IMO - the Formentor peninsular, the mountainous west coast ...

There are some great beaches around the island - though some of the best are fairly remote.

Of those within reach of Palma I'd suggest Paguera, Camp de Mar ...
Magaluf also has a good beach.

We were on Mallorca in June 2004. We were not there for either the beaches or the night life but found it to be a wonderful place.

We spent 6 days driving around the caost line and staying in small B&B type hotels even though the distances are short - it can be slow going. The roads are interesting and for the Formentor Peninsula my husband made me sit in the back and be quiet (and only after I had taken a motion sickness pill)! I don't do roller coasetrs either so that tells you something.

Palma is interesting - but get out into the rural areas.

Have a great time. I hope to go back someday.

Palma Nova, Magaluff or Arenal sound like what you are looking for. All are close to Palma and all are beach resorts - busy, lots of nightlife.
