Malatide or Howth?

We are going to Ireland for the first time. We plan to spend 8 days in Dublin and Galway. Since we will be flying home from Dublin, we will need to return there for our last night. We are thinking of staying in Malatide or Howth instead of spending one more night in Dublin. Ideally we'd like a place where we could stay inside a seaside resort that is relaxing yet has lots of pubs with in a couple of blocks of our hotel. As opposed to a beach that is beautiful but quiet. Which do you suggest. Thank you, Inor

Howth for the King Sitric, great food, good wine list.

Thanks for your replies. Do you recommend King Sitric for lodging too?

yes, pretty good, they lock you in with the wine and an honesty book, while breakfast has fresh fish. Rooms are simple and clean.

We were in Dublin for a week and it never rained so my "rainy day" schedule got screwed up and we sort of had an extra day and we went to Malahide. The castle was wonderful and the town was lovely. We went to the port/water, but I really don't remember reading about a beach. but a great place.

We liked Malahide over Howth, more choices of things to do and places to stay, especially for B&Bs.
