Malaga Train Station Car Drop off

I will be dropping off my car at Hertz at Malaga Train Station in a few weeks.

But I can not figure out where the drop off is.

Please help!

Thank you.

Normally they are located on a one-way street that goes the wrong way.

The drop off is in the underground parking garage at the train station, María Zambrano. The rental car companies are not allowed to put up signage, so you either have to ask someone (like the cop standing out front directing traffic) or keep your eyes open for the sign pointying to the garage.

The entry is off Calle Mendivil, a right turn off Ave de las Amêricas. If you miss it you can always go around, like we did.

Take the first entry ramp leading down to the parking garage and continue down to the second sub level (-2). Signage is extremely poor and difficult to follow because the signs are so small, and lighting is terrible.

This is probably one of the worst returns you encounter, which is why we recommend out clents drop the car off at the airport and take a taxi into town, especiall if your Spanish isn't all that good.

> The rental car companies are not allowed to put up signage

Is that generally true in Spain? We'll be returning a rental car to Hertz in Granada. Thanks for the info.

Typically it's up to the owner of the building when it comes to putting up signage. Since a lot of car rental agency offices are not free standing, signage can be a pain. Hertz's drop off in Granada is listed as the Av. Fuente Nueva, the Hotel Granada Center, where the Thrifty Car office is, again, no signage. Beware of street parking and the one way streets.

I prefer dropping of at the rail station (Europcar). It's much easier. The office is closed from 2:00 to 5:00 for lunch, but there is a drop off box.

Thanks much Robert2533. I chose Hertz in Granada because on maps it looked easier to reach from main roads than Europcar rail station, but I can change that.

Above I was sort of joking about the one-way streets, but it does often seem to work out that way!

I'm sure OP beam can find the Malaga office now, with your excellent instructions. Apologize for the hijack.

Funny, I wish I knew about this before we returned our car to the Malaga train station! I had 2 different addressed from Avis and AutoEurope, found the addresses quickly and easily with our Google maps -- but no Avis!

After driving around the train station several times, my husband asked in one of the few rental agencies on the street if they knew where Avis was. He was directed to go into the train station and, once there, found the office for Avis on the main floor. Then we were directed to an underground parking lot where the Avis agent met us and took possession of the car. Very easy once we knew about it.

We have always gotten our rental cars thru AutoEurope, and they've always been from Europcar. Never had any problems whatsoever. This time, next week, we'll pick up a car at Malaga airport from Avis. Europcar was much more expensive than Avis or Hertz. We return it at Almeria airport very early in the morning. We went with Avis because Hertz doesn't have a drop box there. This thread has made me aware of potential problems with dropping off a car. I think we'll investigate this airport's facilities on our way to Mojacar, a week before the drop off. Can't imagine Hertz not having a drop box. What is the world coming to ??
