Malaga to Marbella

can anyone give me an approximate cost for a taxi from the Airport in Malaga to Marbella...the Marriott Marbella Beach Resort?

josele Jan 28th, 2007 10:13 AM

I have just called them and the official rates from Malaga Airport to Marbella city center are:
Weekdays till 10,00PM: 52eur.
10.00PM on, and weekends: 63eur.
The Marriott is between Mijas-Costa and Marbella, and the reference is Elviria, as I see. Price should not be over that above; in any case lower. You can always ask before getting in the car.

thanks for the information. I am to assume the cost is per trip and not per person.

We will be staying the Marriott Marbella in May & havent decided whether to rent a car or not. I would be very interested to know your thoughts (when you return) as to whether or not you need a car to do do side trips. We have often used public transportation and group side trips when needed. Have & good trip- let me know what you think about the place! Thans- Mo

Hi Mo,
We've stayed at the Marriott Marbella twice and loved it. It's a great resort, right on the beach, with beautiful units and the grounds are lovely and the staff was amazingly helpful to us both times. It's a wonderful place for daytrips to Granada, Nerja, Ronda, the white villages, etc.

HOWEVER IMO you do need a car. I wish that wasn't the case, but there really isn't any public transportation directly to the resort and even the 52 Eu cabride from the airport is a bit riduiculous--it would be much cheaper by car. I'd rather go with public transportation (DH's driving gives me a heart attach :D) but this is one of those places that really would be hard to do that way.

We had trouble finding the resort the first time--and after an 18 hour flight, that wasn't fun, so make sure you get good directions.

But you're sure to have a great trip and they're so helpful at the Marriott.

Taxi rates are per trip. You are never charged per person in taxis in Spain.
Mocat, I agree with artlover, you'll need a car for sidetrips.

THanks for the info. I have reserved a rental car & am ready to roll! One quick question - how long vand difficult is the drive from Marbella to Granada/Alhambra? I we decide to do a group trip ie Morocco, can they be booked via the Marriott once we arrive? So many decisions to make! I ama seasoned traveler but still seem to obsess over details. THanks again MO

Marbella to Granada is about 1 1/2 hours each way. Get reservations for Alhambra on the Internet before you go.

Don't know if Marriott can make reservations for a tour to Moracco, from what I've heard, unless you plan to really get into the country, it's not worth going just to Tangiers. There's so much to see in Andalucia, I'd recommend making the most of your time there--it's really awesome.
