Malaga to Jerez

Hello!

We are planning a little weekend whirlwind trip (as part of a trip to visit friends in Germany)... flying into Malaga on Friday night, flying out of Jerez on Monday evening... essentially 2.5/3-ish days. April 29-May 2

Malaga sounds awesome...
was planning on a half day/full day in Ronda.
Rick Steve's bit on Jerez made it sound like a good stop too...

However, I keep seeing Sevilla, Sevilla, Sevilla in searches in forums...

I am looking for strong opinions on where our time on this quick trip would be best served. Should we try to fit Sevilla in?

Planning just a walk on the beach (little chilly, but we want to see it :), good food, architecture/scenery, culture (my husband is fluent in Spanish), any must see sights... we'll have our 1 year old with us (haha, right? we like to live on the wild side... I guess we're a little crazy).

Thanks in advance for any opinions/personal experiences you can share!

Yes, I think most people would think Sevilla would be more at the top of the list of places to visit if the list also included Malaga and Jerez.

But you only have a weekend and already have 3 places planned to visit. Sounds like you may be more local (Europe, at least, i fyo are going there just for a weekend and can fly home from Jerez), so why not save that for some other trip when you have more time. You already have to do Malaga and JErez, after all, if your flight is paid for.

The plan makes little sense with what little time you actually have to enjoy the three-day weekend, and all with a young child.

Adding Sevilla to the mix would be a major push if you have to fly out of Jerez.

Jerez on a Sunday felt quite dreary. I'd have a plan for that town, even if you just breeze in on Monday morning.
Since you are just looking for impressions/opinions, I am very fond of Ronda, especially in the evening. With a child, sitting in the square in the evening would be lovely.
Sevilla did not wow me the way it does most, but I loved Cordoba.
I am also a pretty slow traveler--Malaga-Ronda-Jerez in a weekend would be more than enough. I am all for serendipity, but I would also map out your days according to your child's schedule and let that help you decide where you want to be. At this point we don't know what you like to do.

Assuming you've never been in Andalucia, or Spain, before you should plan your day carefully, especially when it comes to lunch and/or dinner reservations.

You can do Málaga and Sevilla, skipping Ronda and Jerez, giving you a full day (Saturday) in Málaga, and another day (Sunday) and a half (Monday) in Sevilla before heading down to the airport north of Jerez.

Parking a car in Sevilla can be a problem if you don't a parking garage in mind, or the hotel doesn't have parking. Also, driving in Sevilla can be a challenge.

What you can do and see in that amount of time will depend on what you're interested in, where you're staying, and how you plan on dealing with the child.

If you're flying on an international connecting flight, you'll need to be at the airport at least 2 hours before departure, even in Jerez.

I spent an Easter holiday in Jerez and while the holiday event was interesting I'm not sure I can say the same about Jerez itself. We did do sherry tastings and went to the Andalucian horse show which was fun to see. But I'd probably opt for Sevilla if that is still your choice.
