malaga to cordoba train, and Mezquita

I'm in Malaga, and want to take a train to Cordoba. I've seen the schedule, but need to know if I should buy tickets in advance ? What is the difference between tourist, business and club class ? After arriving in Cordoba, can we walk to the various sites, including Mezquita ? Should we purchase Mezquita tickets in advance ? Thanks again for the help.

I have always travelled tourist class on the high speed AVE trains, very comfortable, bar/cafe etc. In Club and Business class you are served a hot meal and can use the AVE lounges at the stations. Not sure if they serve any meals on the short ride between Malaga and Cordoba, some 50 minutes.

From the train station it will be about a 20-25 min one mile walk to the Mezquita.

For lunch/dinner, I recommend to go some 300 meters North of the Mezquita to the "Roman Cordoba" area around Central Plaza de las Tendillas and Plaza de la Corredera. Great atmosphere and affordable tabernas on every corner up here. Taberna Salinas from 1879 is one of the most famous, have had no fuss excellent meals here: http://www.tabernasalinas.com/

I also like Taberna El Gallo in C/Mária Cristina, 6, two minutes from Plaza de las Tendillas, and next door to the Roman temple ruins. Great wines - try the dry Amargoso - and excellent tapas. In one word: Genuine!

And remember to try the excellent local Montilla-Moriles wines when up here: http://www.andalucia.com/gastronomy/cordobawines.htm

Thanks Kimhe. You're stuff is always great. We can walk the mile easily and enjoyably from train station to Mezquita. Are taxis available ?

Plenty of taxis in the Cordoba train station.

kimhe,
Where would be find a taxi from Mezquita? I waited about 10 minutes at Mezquita and no taxi came around. Then, I walked to the Glorieta Cruz Roja taxi stop. There was a lady ahead of me. She waited perhaps 20 min for a taxi to come around. I then waited 10 more minutes. If I had known this, I would have walked a mile or taken a bus back to the station. This was around 5pm.

Try one of the taxi apps to order your car.

We've used the taxi stand just off heart of the city Plaza de las Tendillas, never had a problem finding a taxi here. Very nice and atmospheric Plaza de las Tendillas is in the "Roman Cordoba" some 300 meters North of the Mezquita. http://english.turismodecordoba.org/...las-tendillas2
