Malaga resort day pass ?

we will be stopping in Malaga during a cruise, and we'd like to take a break from site-seeing and just chill out on the beach ? in Cozumel a few years ago, we were able to purchase day passes, allowing for use of facilities, food, drink, lounge chairs etc for the day.... is this possible/normal ? and what are recommended resorts near the Malaga port ? thanks

I don't know but I know many of the beaches have rentals of lounge chairs/umbrellas and you can always buy food/drink.

Here's a guidebook with facilities listed

To chill out on the beach there are no chance to purchase day passes as in Spain all beach are public. But you can go to the chiringuitos (restaurants by the beach) and eat fish and also you can rent lounge chairs for maybe 5 euros a day, next to the port is La Malagueta beach, when are you stopping? By August the beach is very busy and from September is really quiet.

Another vote for the large Malagueta city beach, just a little east of the port. Or take a taxi ten minutes to the popular Acacias beaches in Pedregalejo a few miles east of the city center: http://www.andalucia.com/cities/malaga/beaches.htm

Great bars and seafront restaurants in both areas. Perhaps La Caleta playa, in the extension of La Malagueta is your place for seafood in the restaurant and cocktails in the lounge-bar. They've also got sun-beds:
