Malaga
I am traveling in Spain, and after 3 days in Cordova, 3 in Granada, I am thinking 3 days in Malaga and then Sevilla. Malaga 3 days too much? I am finding myself there on May 1 which as we all know is a big holiday in Europe. Suggestions and or options??
Thank you
Javier

I don't think it's too much at all. Do you think it is inferior to Cordova or Granada? Enough to do there for several days and it's nice being right on the coast.
I'm not sure, but I think because May 1st is on a Sunday this year, that it is going to be celebrated on Monday in Spain. So I think things are going to be closed Monday rather than Sunday.

Three days will fly in laid-back and genuine Malaga. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/de...pt-secret.html
On May 1. Sílvia Pérez Cruz - arguably the finest voice in Spain today - finishes the Malaga film festival with a concert in Teatro Cervantes. Could have gone to Malaga for this concert alone: https://festivaldemalaga.com/noticia...ival-de-malaga
She did the theme song in the brilliant Blancanieves movie:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INoA5v2ZDWk
Her version of Garcia Lorca's/Cohen's Pequeño vals Vienes/Take this waltz: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vx5CW0Vyvi8
Just a few tickets left, all are 24€: https://www.unientradas.es/janto/
A few restaurant tips:
Dom Vinos: http://azahar-spain.com/azahartapas/...aga/dom-vinos/
Tapeo de Cervantes (right by the theater): http://azahar-spain.com/azahartapas/...-de-cervantes/
Nerva: http://azahar-spain.com/azahartapas/...aga/bar-nerva/
And within the fabulous Atarazanas food market: https://eastofmalaga.net/2014/07/25/...ry-perception/

... and among the many top class museums in town, there is a Frida Kahlo photo exhibition in La Térmica Centro Cultural through all of May (except Mondays): http://www.latermicamalaga.com/expos...-la-casa-azul/
La Térmica is next door to Restaurante El Botijo, had the roast lamb leg of my life here some months ago. Great steaks also. Fabulous place. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaura...Andalucia.html

Just glad to help, I keep coming back to Malaga all the time. And don't miss out on the Conchas finas, the pride of the Malaga coast. Have them with a sprinkle of lemon and a little pepper, tastes pure sea and heaven. They are served all around, and you can have them together with all kinds of Malaga wine on barrel in Antigua Casa de Guardia from 1840: http://www.yelp.com/biz/antigua-casa...-m%C3%A1laga-2

Kimhe, you are a mine of information about Spain which is rarely if ever equalled.
My very small two penn'oth is simply to agree with you - we only spent a day or so there a few years ago but I should very much like to go back and explore it for longer.

kimhe! You are a wealth of information!! You helped me on another thread. Thank you thank you thank you for such great info. I'll be in Malaga late May and staying a couple minutes from the Picasso Museum. I'll be in town for 2 nights and one full day. For sure I'll see the Picasso Museum the first late afternoon/night I am there. But, if all I have is one full day, what site seeing and culinary suggestions do you have to optimize my precious time?

Breakfast (chocolate con churros) at Casa Aranda, perhaps my favourite cafe in all of Spain, or at emblematic Cafe Central (both in the heart of the city):
Casa Aranda: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaura...Andalucia.html
Cafe Central: http://www.cafecentralmalaga.com/
See/walk the Roman theater and the Moorish Alcazaba:

http://www.malagaturismo.com/en/tour...ail/alcazaba/6
Lunch in one of the excellent tapas bars inside the Atarazanas food market: https://eastofmalaga.net/2014/07/25/...ry-perception/
Cafe Bar Mercado Atarazanas: https://eastofmalaga.net/2014/07/25/...ry-perception/
One or more of the great museums (many apart from the Picasso museum, Carmen Thyssen, Pompidou, etc etc.).

See real deal flamenco in Kelipé: http://www.kelipe.net/

Plenty of great tapas bars and restaurants in the center of town, but I suggest you take a 5-7€ taxi ride and go for dinner in Dom Vinos for cutting edge food and great wines, or to El Botijo for the best roast lamb and steaks:
Dom Vinos: http://azahar-spain.com/azahartapas/dom-vinos/
El Botijo: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaura...Andalucia.html
Late night at El Pimpi, an institution in town, and great night views of the lit Alcazaba: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQ60p6dyFEs

My relatives all live in Malaga, and I think 3 days are great. Lots to do if you like the beach, the shopping downtown on Calle Larios is great, the old Moorish castle, on the coastal part nearby is NERJA, not only the beach is great but also the caves are famous, just check the dates and times when open. Additionally, nearby old town Marbella is wonderful. Lots of great places nearby. Ronda is phenomal as well. Have a great time!
