Making Rome Busmaps, need some critiques

Hey all,

As I continue building on the website I decided to put together some Google maps of my favorite bus routes in Rome. I've finished 2 of them. If you guys don't mind, check these out and let me know if they make sense and are useful, before I spend any more time making lots more.

Here is the link to the website. Each map has it's own sub-menu.

thanks,

It's useful in a vague sort of way. Instead of "approximate" locations, you can look up the precise locations at www.atac.roma.it. If you use Trova linea and then click on the names of the bus stops listed below the map, it will tell you exactly where the stops are.

Actually, the locations come from ATAC, but they are not always correct. The idea behind this is that there are often folks on this board that ask about public transportation in Rome. Let's face it, the real bus maps can be confusing. That's why I decided to just take my own favorites and put them together. I hope this gives a good idea of where the buses travel and about where the stops are located. Google maps are also not always correct, so there will always be some variations.

I must say, the Paris interactive site is one of the very best I've seen, too bad other cities don't follow suit.

Thanks for the input.

I'm not sure that ATAC's locations are often incorrect.

For the Labicana/Merulana stop on route 87 it says this: VIA LABICANA - ROMA CAP: 00184 Ubicazione: 55 M. DOPO VIA MERULANA CORSIA CENTRALE

If you added that information - 55 meters after Via Merulana, central island - to the pop-up of that stop, it would surely be useful.

That's a good point. When I get the basic routes put together I'll go back and put the info in the description bubbles.

At times bus stops get moved so I don't know if you would be able to keep this accurate.

As for you link for private tours, the Vatican now has private tours before and after opening hours listed on their website. They don't state whether they run them or someone else. I would assume they are doing them, but they don't list prices.

Thanks for the info Kybourbon. I'll check it out and add it to the site.
