Making Friend in Rome

Can anyone advise me as to where to go in Rome to meet people. Are there any social clubs, pubs etc.
Thx Max

One of the Irish pubs might be a good start. There's one near S.Maria Maggiore.

Hi Max
When I was first in Rome the place to meet people were the centres connected to the various churches connected to different foreign nationalities.
Santa Susana is the American church and has a large, active community attached to it.
San Silverstro is the official English church - Irish priests and a large Philippino centre.
St Patrick's, San Clemente & St Isador's
are all Irish (bet that was a surprise!).
They all had English masses at some time during the month and people gathered for a chat afterwards.
Of course the Irish pubs are everywhere now - The Fiddler's Elbow in Via Olmato (Maria Maggiore) was more or less the first and it would be a good starting point.

It may depend on your age and your interests, but in my mid 20's I met people just sitting by a fountain or visiting the usual tourist sights. I third the idea of the Irish pubs (Druid's Den by S. Maria Maggiore was my spot) - where you will easily meet locals and tourists. If you're staying in a hotel, you might also make friends at breakfast.
