Maison Chaudenay or other place near Beaune?
We need a charming but affordable place to stay one night in Burgundy to break up our drive to Provence. Has anyone stayed at the Maison Chaudenay or the Chateau de Bellecroix? Or does anyone have another suggestion? A swimming pool would be a nice plus, but not necessary. Oue budget should be under 200 euro/nt.

I hope you'll get more answers than on tripadvisor Burgundy forum!;-) good luck :-) |
sorry to be dumb, but I keep seeing that...
ttt.... what does that mean??? |
We stayed at the Château de Bellecroix a few years back; it was fine. The only problem was that the hotel required us to take dinner in its restaurant, when we would have preferred a different place.
A different suggestion: stay at the Château d'Igé, a member of the Relais et Châteaux group but one of the less expensive hotels. It's not far off the autoroute and is outside a small village of the same name. The château has beautifully kept the feel of its earlier days as the local manor, and the restaurant is quite good. |
Thank you, underhill! That place looks great!

ttt means to the top (so you won't lose your message, buried under hundreds of other posts..)

hi underhill,
I heard back from chateau d'ige, and they're have 2 options--something in the tower for 225 Eur and a regular room for 143 Eur. Is the tower worth the splurge--and extra $100? coco--thanks for the ttt info... |
We stayed at a very nice B&B at the edge of Beaume on the Route de Dijon, a fifteen minute walk to some wonderful restaurants in town.

We were in a tower room that turned out to be really a suite, with a separate living room and a huge bathroom. I think, though, that one of the regular rooms would be just fine since you'll just be there overnight.
BTW, the breakfasts at the château have won awards, and the hotel won one within the R et C chain for hospitality. |
Thanks! I think we'll stay there. I'm still tempted to book the tower room...
