Maintenance going on but people are still posting messages?

When I checked in twice today, I got a message stating that board was closed because of maintenance bu parent company. Now when I get on, I see that there are messages with times from midnight last night to now (6:30pm) How do you do that? Same thing happened a short while ago with a maintenance downtime.

There are messages before 8:30 am and after 12:58 pm; then there appears to be a small gap between 5:20 and 5:40. I am thinking that you caught the database at one or both of these time segments. I don't see any signs that there was any "secret" way to post during the first outage period (and not sure if the second one was real or not).

Best wishes,

Rex

Are you on AOL? I am. When I couldn't get onto Fodor's by 2PM, I fired up Internet Explorer and Fodor's came right up.

It was only down in the morning, I think.

If you enter the site using www.fodors.com and THEN go to Travel Talk, you will often encounter that "scheduled maintenance" notice, but often it's other parts of Fodors that are under maintenance. If you bookmark the Travel Talk URL, you can bypass the problem, unless it happens to be Travel Talk that is undergoing maintenance.

I don't use AOL and I have both the Europe and Asia forums as separate bookmarks, but I couldn't get in for a while yesterday. Same problem for several hours last Sunday and Monday.
