Jaideep, there are several different ways to get to the train station. When I was there in December, I used the Aerocity van service. The driver picked us up at the airport and drove us straight to the station. The price was very reasonable. You can make reservations on the web.

You can also ride the subway from the airport to the train station, although when I was there, a portion of the line was closed and passengers had to transfer to a bus. Other than that, Madrid has a fine subway system, I think. (By the way, if you do choose the subway, keep in mind that the international arrivals area is at one end of the airport and the subway station is at, or near, the other end. Allow a bit of time.)

Of course, there are plenty of taxis, too.

I hope this helps!

There are 10 trains from Madrid to Toledo on weekdays, 7 on Sat/Sun.
Journey time one hour from Madrid Atocha, 14 minutes more from Madrid Chamartin. The trains also stop at Nuevos Ministerios and Recoletos (next to the terminal for airport bus to Plaza de Colon) between the two main stations. The train ticket cost 4.80 euro. www.renfe.es

Bus from Estacion Sur (near metro station Mendez Alvaro on the gray line) every hour on the hour (50 minutes).

If you have a choice, go by train, not by bus. I took the bus, and it was stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic for most of the trip. It was a very unpleasant ride.

From Madrid Chamartin 6.30 (not Sat/Sun), 8.30, 10.14, 12.12, 14.44, 15.25 (not Sat/Sun), 16.30, 17.55, 19.23 (not Sat/Sun), 20.25.

From Recoletos approx 9mins later. The station is under ground, entrance probably marked with a white C (for cercanias, suburban train) in a red circle.

I have just received updated info from Madrid. The pink metro line 8 from the airport has been extended to Nuevos Ministerios. Journey time only 12 minutes. Change for local train to Toledo (dep 4 minutes after Chamartin).

www.metromadrid.es
