Just to give you guys who are curious an idea of what it like to travel from Alaska:

Our flight would depart Anchorage at 1:30pm on Saturday
Arrives in Madrid at 6:30pm Sunday (20 hours travel including the layer overs in Seattle and London)

The latest we could wake up that day is 8:00am (1 hour to the airport)

So that's a total of 25 hours awake-assuming no sleep/poor sleep on the long haul.

Whenever we leave the country it's like this. We're used it but it's exhausting for sure. That's why we never vacation for shorter than 2 week periods every year. Heck, even our backyard Hawaii is a 6 1/2 hr flight away :-) We consider that a short flight!

Oh, and the flight home is 31 hrs just for the flying part :-)

Based on all the comments I've decided to add an extra 3 days to the trip. This way I will have 16 full days to sight see and relax. Not including the 4 days of travel. This way I can spend extra time in Cordoba too. Thanks everyone!
