Madrid/Murcia/San Sebastian HELP

Hi, I have been to Spain many times already, but never been to San Sebastian. I will fly out of NY, so probably will have to fly into Madrid... friends live in Murcia, so although I've been 4 times must make a stop there. Somehow I would like to go directly from Madrid to Murcia, stay 2 days, and then get to San Sebastian in the quickest and most price efficient way for another 4 days. Any suggestions? Rent a car? Fly? Renfe?

Ouch. Any reason you can't fly into Malaga, and out of Barcelona, say?

i think you mean murcia.

you can probably get tickets all the way as mentioned.
the drive can be long..especially in summer with the beach traffic going and coming from madrid down there.

see one-way flights on www.rumbo.es to see who flies between murcia and madrid, and then book whereever you please.

also check out www.iberia.com on spanish site..not "usa" as country.

and see if you can open jaw and return as suggested from S.S.

No, I meant Malaga-- because I'm thinking it's the largest airport near Murcia... but I could be totally wrong about that. Regardless, I was thinking fly to Malaga from NY, get train (or drive) to Murcia, then train or flight to San Sebastian-- I gathered from the original post that there was no plan to stay in Madrid, so why not take it out of the picture?

By the way, I loved San Sebastian... beautiful town, beautiful setting, great beach and also lots of fun at night!

The largest airport near Murcia is Alicante (larger than Malaga). If you can fly direct from the States is OK going to Malaga, if you have to change in Madrid...much much better Murcia Airport or Alicante.

malaga does not enter into the picture for murcia.

murcia has its own airport.. and depending on which day, you can fly non stop from madrid for under 100 euros.. sometimes under 70.

then you can fly to s.s. for about 150.
no cheap way to ge there, really.

Murcia has its own airport (San Javier). It has flights to MAD and BCN with Air Nostrum. From any of these two airports you can reach EAS (San Sebastián).
