Madrid, late March 2015
 

I have been seriously considering a trip to Madrid for next March 2015. My daughter's spring break, so dates aren't too flexible... Dates would be during the week of March 22 through March 29/30/31...
I see now, on the calendar, that Easter is the following week.

Will Madrid be crazy-crowded then? One week before Easter?

I will have enough ff miles to get two r/t award tickets by next week, so was considering booking the flights right away... Should I also start securing lodging now?
Ok, I'm sure the answer to that is yes..

But the week before Easter - will it be Paris-type crowds? Not so much?

P.S. Already checked Easter dates for 2016 - Easter is the week during her spring break, so no, don't want to put it off until then...

No, there will be no 'Paris-type' crowds the week before Easter, but for holy week, the week leading up to Easter Sunday, accommodations will be a bit more expensive then normal for that time of the year. You shouldn't have any problems for your dates, but you will be better off making reservations as early as possible.

Just go prepared for the weather-could be miserable-cold/rainy!

Maybe a little warmer,less windy but be prepared! I actually took a trip out to Cuenca and there were snow flurries!

It will be warmer than Chicago. But here is the 8 month forecast...it should be around 50 during the day.

I was in Madrid part of the week before Easter several years ago, and it was also end of March. Crowds weren't noticeable at all, Madrid isn't a big destination like some other towns for Holy Week (ie, Seville). I didn't notice any increase in hotel prices in Madrid, but I sure did in Seville that week, where I came from.

I don't know what Paris-type crowds mean as I haven't been in Paris that week. It seemed just like other times I've been in Madrid when there was no special event.

Oh, and it was cool and rainy the year I was there at end of March, I don't know why you presume it would be better than Chicago, you never know. Of coruse, I don't know how bad Chicago weather is end of March but I live in Wash DC and it was about the same as here in March.

The Easter Bunny sometimes gets snowed in in Chicago on Easter,but if one could predict the weather, they would be a rich as Warren Buffet. And yes, it can be snowing in Madrid Easter Sunday while it's warm and comfortable in Badajoz, it all depends. One Easter weekend when had a blizzard in Samaniego (in the Rioja Alavesa).

Chicago (where I live) in late March is still winter, and there is still a good chance of a snow storm, even.

Been to DC a few times in February and March, and it is perfect! :) Quintessential springtime...

This past March, we were in Paris for spring break and it was VERY CROWDED. (I cannot imagine what it must be like in the summer..) The weather in Paris was rainy and cool, but still warmer than Chicago (but not as warm as I remember DC being at that time..)
I would think (hope) Madrid would be even a bit warmer...

If I do not have to wear a heavy winter coat, I will be happy!

Past seventeen years weather statistiscs for Madrid last week of March: Average highs at 64F and night lows at 42F, seven hours sun pr day and rainfall one in four days (wetteronline.de).

Weather history can never give you a prediction of what it will be like. Just take layers you are only there for 7 days those clothes will not take up much space.

Wait I just I got the latest Doppler radar. There will be no weather in Madrid that week.

Just returned - last week of March 2015 - weather was PERFECT. Sunny and clear every day, low to mid-60s first three days, then low-to-mid 70s near end of week; 78 F on our last day. I hated to leave and fly back to Chicago, where it is still chilly.
Don't know if we had good luck, or the weather was "normal", but we were very pleased with it.

That was lucky, no, it is not normally upper 70s in late March in Madrid. It's usually low to mid 60s (high for the day). Actually, that is about the same as where I live now, also, it was in the 70s today in DC and it's been very mild the last month or so. It's not that different in Chicago, it's supposed to be 62 tomorrow.
