Madrid Hotels - Hotel Europa or AC Mosteles

I have two choices for hotels in Madrid:

Hotel Europa 90 Euros
AC Mosteles 65 Euros including breakfast

Location is very important to me, but i don't need to be in the heart of Madrid. Anyone know these two properties?

There is NO WAY I would stay in Mostoles to visit Madrid. This would be VERY inconvenient.

However, AC hotels is a great chain.

If you tell us your dates, maybe we can find you something much closer for not much more.

The best AC hotel in Madrid for location or otherwise is the 50-room 5-star AC Palacio del Retiro, but the 4-star AC Recoletos is also very nice and a little less expensive and well located.

My quote for the Recoletos is 90 Euro including breakfast. Any comments?

Perfect. I have booked with them.
I have sent an e-mail to Palacio del Retiro as well, awaiting their rate and reply.

I stayed in Hotel Europa several years ago. I remember it being a great location -- right at Puerta del Sol, near the metro, and within walking distance to shopping and sights.

One quick thought -- a hotel breakfast may not be so appealing if you end up in a pedestrian area with a good selection of cafes and bakeries...
