Madrid hotel near Prado, Atocha

we are down to the last hotel choice for our upcoming June trip. This will be the hotel we stay in right after the long cross Atlantic flight so comfort over atmosphere is probably the priority. $200-$300 range, and I think near the museum "row" makes sense as that will be our priority. Your suggestions are most welcome - thanks

Check out the new boutique-style DoubleTree by Hilton Madrid-Prado at Calle San Agustín, 3. Great location and the price should fit your budget.

I think the Westin is close to the Prado.

I was looking at the Doubletree as we are Hilton honors members but I thought it was under construction. do you know anything about that?

It opened earlier this year. We dropped by last month to take a look and it's impressive, on a par with the Hotel Tótem in the Salamanca. The smallest rooms should be comfortable enough for 2 people. They did a good job.

thanks Robert - any thoughts on using the Doubletree at the airport for the last night before flying home? or is the airport close enough that we could stay in the city center? the flight is at 11 am.

As noted, no need to stay closer to the airport. Our last taxi trip to T4 took about 25 minutes, in heavy traffic, from the city center.
