Madrid hotel choice -
I hesitate between three hotels in Madrid :
Hotel Villa de la Reina Hotel Mayorazgo Hotel Carlton. Has anybody stayed in one of these hotels? What is the best location for the Prado/Reina Sofia/Thyssen museums? |
I have stayed at the Villa de Reina twice.
Location reasonable. Breakfast buffet very good. Rooms the first time obviously we got one their best rooms because it was very nice. Big , facing the street, there was a lot of teak wood, and on the whole very pleasant. The second time we good a room on the back, just a room, not bad but nothing much. good luck. On the whole I would go if I would get a good internet rate which I did both times. |
Thank you. I think I'll book at Villa de la Reina.

Hi Pvoyageuse,
Is there any reason that the 3 star Hotel Prado or its 4 star sister, Lope de Vega, aren't on your short list? (perhaps price?) These are extremely convenient for the museum triangle and very well run. The RoomMate Alicia also has a great location on Plaza Santa Ana and is an easy walk from the big 3. My husband stayed at the Villa de la Reina on a fam trip, courtesy of the Madrid Tourist Board. Although it was certainly adequate, he prefers the Hotel Prado to the Villa de la Reina for the quality of the rooms and the convenient location for museum hopping. |
Hi Maribel
Yes, the reason is the price. I stayed at the two others (Carlton and Mayorazgo) but that was 7 years ago and I was wondering whether they had changed (for the better or the worse ! :-) |
