Nicole, I stayed at the Hotel Regina 5 years ago. It had been highly recommended by a couple of guidebooks, but I was rather disappointed. It wasn't a bad hotel, but the room was dreary and service was spotty. It certainly is well located—I could walk almost everywhere—but if I went to Madrid again, I'd look for another place.

BTW, don't miss the Museo Thyssen Bornemiza (I know I'm misspelling that). A beautiful, well-organized museum, much pleasanter than the Prado.

Have a great time!

Anne,

Thanks so much for the comments about Hotel Regina. I still haven't booked it yet, so this will give me something to think about. Do any of you have recommendations for hotels in the city centre that are around 100 euros per night? Location is paramount, but I have budget to stick to as well.

Thanks!

Nicole
