OK, OK, I did actually find a "deal" but not that great of a deal like mine in '05, when I waltzed in with 9 Bancotel coupons for a 3 night stay at €150 a night! And they didn't even put me in a broom closet!
The current online deal at www.orient-express.com is a double for €255 per night plus VAT.
Don't think that's gonna change your mind!

Now, if I can just find an amazing deal for the last weekend in June...have to catch the big Sorolla show at the Prado (100 works plus those on tour from NYC's Hispanic Society) and the Matisse exhibit at the Thyssen.

Dh says that the Prado looks fine, so that is where we'll be!

Didn't see your post. The standard rooms that I saw at the Prado aren't too small, but again, I haven't seen all of them. When you arrive you can request an '03 exterior room, which has the most space, with writing desk and comfy chair next to the bed. The exteriors are usually more ample in size than the interiors.

No great deals yet for June 26-27-28 except for the former Gran Hotel Canarias, now NH Paseo del Prado, running at 112. Too early for drop dead bargains, but you know me, I'll keep on searching until I find one! Do your summer plans include a night in Madrid or are you headed to Italy?

We might go to Italy, I need to "claim" my Christmas 2007 present: cooking school vacation in Tuscany. Surprisingly, my DH reminded me about it so I'm researching it. But nothing is for sure.
