Madrid Airport: Transit visa between T1 and T4
Hello,
I'm travelling to Ecuador in a week's time via Madrid. I will arrive at Terminal 1 and the departure to Quito is from Terminal 4. I just wanted to ask if there's a requirement for Schengen visa to travel between the terminals, if I am a third country national and travelling to a non-Schengen area as well. Sorry for posting visa related question in the transfer topic, just cannot find a resolute answer to the question online. Huge thanks in advance! |
Just created a new topic for my question I posted in another topic.

The answers remain the same!
Where are you arriving from and what passport are you flying with? |
Robert,
I'm arriving to Madrid Barajas Airport T1 and taking a flight to Quito from T4 the same Airport. I'm holding a passport of Azerbaijan. Sorry for asking here, but couldn't reach out to the embassy in my country for a week almost! Regards, |
See http://www.exteriores.gob.es/Consula...kPassport.aspx
This seems clear. An Azerbaijani transiting through Spain, whether or not she stays airside, must obtain an airport transit visa unless she holds permanent residency documentation in the EU, US or Canada. You should be able to get more specific information from the http://www.exteriores.gob.es site by working your way to the Baku consulate. Embassies are not usually responsible for managing travel or for handing out information on tourism. |
Flanneruk, thanks for this. The embassy in Baku and consulate division of the ministry of foreign affairs say the visa is not required.
Confused now. And I don't have time to apply for visa, cause the time to issue takes 2 weeks. Thanks for the information. will try to look for other options then |
Just contacted Barajas Airport. They said I don't need any visa in case if the destination country is in non-Schengen area and I hold a valid ticket. Even if I change terminals, it's the airport service and no transit visa required.
Strange indeed. |
