Plaza Mayor falls in the "Centro Ciudad dentro M-30" zone (Center City within M-30). The M-30 is the innermost of the ring roads, but all of the downtown city is included within it.

The time of the ride will change the price. Special days has special prices too.

You will see signs on the road when you leave one zone to the other, you can see the meter clicked.

I would like to use sometimes this service (madrid airport shuttle) has any one used it? is it reliable ?
Also I tried to ask for a quote but they wanted my credit card number for registering , did I do something wrong? I would like to have a quote first.

Hi

Yes we used Aerocity from our hotel at Puerta del Sol to the airport. €16 sounds about right. No complaints about the service. Taxi was €25. Website is www.aerocity.com.

Thank you world in a bag, last night I was half asleep I found the fares today.
This is what I feel, taxis from Barajas are not expensive but sometimes, not always, we have had bad experiences. I know Madrid fairly well .

Thanks for posting this kalpana. I too had the same question but haven't posted it yet. I'm staying across from the Opera (Opera Hotel) and don't know what zone it's in to get a quote from aerocity.

Can anyone help?

I think that it's just next to Sol, which is the center of Madrid.

this seems like a well priced service to me.

certainly will consider using it if i need it. i have never paid that little for a taxi to/from aiport in madrid.

all central hotels will fall into the category of "centro madrid dentro del m30."

You will be able to see if your hotel falls outside the M30( beltway) on a map.

hello!
i'm new to this forum and am planning a trip to madrid with my 2 sisters in april/may. will be flying from london (gatwick) to madrid and wonder if it's a good idea for us to take a taxi from airport to our hostel (cruz sol)near plaza mayor when we arrive in the evening (scheduled arrival: 20:15 hrs). is it safe for us 3 young women from hong kong - speaking not a single word in spanish - to travel by taxi from the airport to plaza mayor at this time of the day? orwould you recommend us to take metro or the aerocity shuttle service? this will be our first visit to spain, grateful if you would give me some tips and advice as far as safety is concerned, and perhaps some sight-seeing suggestions as well as our visit will be brief (only 2 days) due to time limit. thanks a bunch in advance!

At 20:15 the Plaza Major is just coming alive. It was still packed after midnight when we were there . . . so, yes, a taxi would be safe.

you will have a great time.

there are lots of threads here if you do a search on madrid.

For a Madrid Guide see

Either taxi or shuttle would be very safe for you. Since you are 3, I'd taxi . . .
