madrid
hotel that you can walk to many attractions from in madrid
|
We stayed at Gran Hotel Lope de Vega right across from the Prado museum. The hotel is small, very clean, modern and is in the very quiet street very near the Calle Huertas area (lively area during the night with the multitude of tapas bars within the nooks and crannies). It is only about 15 minutes walk to Sol and Plaza Mayor areas and is wihtin 5-10 minutes from the other museums.

What kind of hotel do you want? I stayed in June at the 2* Hotel Mexico, in a very similar location, I believe, as the one diddith mentioned. On a quiet street, near the pedestrian Huertes St, minutes from the Prado and a convenient busline.

Yes, what price range do you want? Try looking here:
http://www.solmelia.com Often there are great offers for hotels in Madrid. We stayed at the Tryp Cibeles which was very convenient. |
Hotel Carlos V. Very central, on a street with no vehicular traffic. You can walk everywhere in the center. We even walked to El Prado. Lovely lounge on the second floor where the included breakfast is served. There is also a computer for guest use here, cleverly hidden behind a stained glass screen. Since the street is quiet, a room at the front would be very pleasant. Some of the rooms at the back can be dark.

There are hundreds of hotels in Madrid from where you can walk to many attractions. Do you mind narrowing the question a bit?; any specific museum? park? plaza? shops? i.e., Hotel Carlos V is close to Plaza Mayor but quite a walk to El Prado Museum. Also, price range.

We stayed at Carlos V. A bit worn but great location.
We had a front room on the 2nd floor and it wasn't noisy. As stated, a non-traffic street right across from il Corte Ingles. A block from the main square and subway. Walked to the Palace, etc. |
We have been to Madrid several times. A few weeks ago we stayed at the Hotel Intur Palacio San Martin:
