I feel your pain. Two years ago I searched everywhere in Paris to get one for my grandaughter since that was what she wanted me to bring back a small one. No one had that doll and I was told she is very old fashioned and no French girls care about her.
That said Au Nain Bleu" 5, boulevard Malesherbes caters to Americans and had a Madeline doll gift pack which was very expensive (too much for my 5 year old!). I ended up ordering the small Madeline online from Barnes and Noble and had it shipped to my home to give to her upon arrival back!!! |
I seem to recall seeing them in a toy store in the mall at the Louvre.

Can't help you with the Madeline doll, however, we found the book in French since my sister was a on a hunt for it at the time. We were able to find it in a Montmartre bookstore.
|
Hmm I remember seeing them as I did lots of Tintin also written by a Belgian. I bought a tintin necklace long ago that had pink beads with snowy as the center piece.

The book *Madeline* was written by Ludwig Bemelmens who was born in Austria and emigrated to the U.S. at the age of 16. Four years later he became a U.S. citizen. *Madeline* was published 20 years later. Because of this, though set in Paris, Madeline is more of an American thing than a French thing.
