Madeira Island or Canary Islands in Mid-January?
 

My husband and I, and our 27-year-old daughter have 9 days of vacation time in mid-January.

We will be traveling to Portugal and would also like to spend some time in Madeira Island or Canary Islands. Which did you like better?

If you have to fly out of Lisbon, Madeira will have the flights.

I loved our time in Lanzarote earlier this year but who know how you have to get there form Portugal.....??

It is VERY different than Madeira, that much I know.

I can't remember exactly how many Canary islands exist but it's quite a few. Ranging from fairly large to tiny.

I wouldn't start by picking the destination. Decide on what sort of trip you want. If it's beach then what sort of beach. Do you want to fly and flop? Or do you want active? If you need a little culture then you need to factor that in.

I think TAP flies to some of the Canary islands.

Miid January in the Canaries or Madeira won't be beach weather, but in terms of things to do and pleasant places to visit, then Madeira as per your other thread.

It will be in the Canaries. It won't be mid 30s but it'll be warm enough that the beaches will be full.

Canaries will be warm. Cape Verdi even warmer still.
