Dare I confess? Sometimes it's nice to take a break from the real sightseeing in London, and go somewhere tacky and fun like Mme. Tussauds. My kids, both teens, absolutely love it, and also need some lighthearted relief when we're in London.

The best bet is to order tickets in advance online. You're offered a window of timed entrances, so you can pick one of those and avoid the huge summer crowds. These tickets enable you to go right to the ticketholders' entrance at the main gate.

Fortunately I knew someone who works there. Went straight to the top of the line and got the &quot;celebrity&quot; ride. Just the three of us in one compartment. Now <b><i>that</i></b> was one heck of a ride! :)

We bought our Eye tickets online in advance, and avoided the line at the ticket desk. You just go to the boarding queue which, when we went, moved right along.

My college student daughter and I went because she had always heard of the place and wanted to see it. No line to speak of on a rainy late Sunday afternoon in March, and if I remember correctly, the tickets were less expensive if you go late enough. We probably spent between one and two hours, and that included the planetarium show which I hadn't even known was there. I now have pictures of my daughter with Will Shakespeare and Jean Luc Picard, two of her favorite Englishmen.
