Machines of the Isle of Nantes

We have four days in Paris in June. Our grandchildren are 9 and 13. What do you think about spending one day going by train to Nantes to see the machines? If you've been there, is it fun and interesting? Thank you.

kids seem to have fun with them! Nantes is also a sweet town to look around in though many think nearby Angers, with its old massive castle, is nicer - easy to combine both by train.

Anything that Royal Deluxe is doing is worth seeing.

Any further thoughts?

I was intrigued by this as I'd never heard of it before, so I found this:

shame we missed it when we were in that area with our kids.

you and your children might be interested in this, in nearby Cholet:

romans, gladiators, knights on horseback, birds of prey, etc. etc. a wonderful day out.

The Puydyfou looks like fun, too! Thanks for the tip!

Hoosier - more than fun - the best theme park we've ever been to.

they also do a night-time son et lumiere type entertainment at weekends called the cinescenie which is truly brilliant, but if you want tickets you need to apply asap as they attract people from all over France and it sells out really quickly.

if you are going a bit further south, Futuroscope at Poitiers is also very interesting.

Thank you so much, annhig. What a discovery!

hoosier - i am really surprised that the puy de fou is so little known amongst UK & US tourists. We only found it by chance when we were on the way to Futuroscope; we've now been twice and had a blast each time. I hope that you get a chance to go!
