Mälardal trail

Hi guys, I want to ride this easy cycle route out of Stockholm this June. I'm struggling to find ebike rental for Mrs Bilbo. I've found cykelstallet.se but does anyone know of alternatives please?

No experience of course but there is also https://rentbike.se/

and this has a list: https://viewstockholm.com/rent-bike-stockholm/

Good luck. Let us know how your trip goes!

thanks heti, I couldn't find ebikes on the rentbike search engine but I'll dig in deeper, it looks like they have them but are hard to rent. I'll drop them an email.

Yes, it seems their search engine only works if they have the exact thing you want on the exact dates you are selecting so just about useless as a search engine. So great if your life is very constricted but useless if you are super flexible

Hmm, it seems life is no longer easy for the super flexible. Everything has to be booked in advance and planned to the second nowadays it seems.

I hope you are able to find a suitable bike and get to enjoy your ride. Are you flying there or going by train?

Going out for a quick 20Km later today on the trike. We are considering a circuit of Lake Constance, along with half of Europe, but I have to check if it is suitable for the trike.

20 years ago, some bit of Constance were not trike friendly but a lot was.
Elbe river is very trike friendly, just a thought

Thanks. Problem is trikes aren't allowed on trains so a circular route is a useful plan.

The Canal de Bourgogne is very trike friendly I noticed but of course it is linear.

More research needed.

My twenty Km turned into only ten. Too warm, too busy and two weeks over indulging in France :).
Tomorrow is another and hopefully quieter day.

Look forward to reading your TR on your bike ride in Sweden if you get there.

If you want circular then you need to include German Canals as well as rivers. I'll dig in, but I think there is a "Hamster Route" that goes southeast on the Elbe, west on a canal and then north on another river. Constance is a nice 260km. I'll have a look.

https://www.researchgate.net/figure/...fig3_311455497 this map shows all the major waterways. Lunaburg (spelt wrong) to Magdeburg might be too far but worth investigating. I find if you choose the town at the junction with two waterways German towns tend to offer maps.

Plus this offer more conventional information
