A suggestion when in Lyon is to start with 'hello' and to finish with 'thank you'.

Lyon sights

We have never been to Lyon and going there for 2 full days, staying in the old area of Lyon. What would you suggest for best gastronomy tour, also hop on/hop off for a feel of the city, or another suggestion ...

Visit the traboules while in Lyon.

You're spending a king's ransom to stay at that luxury hotel and haven't bought a guidebook???

wordsmith1 May 4th, 2017 02:27 AM

Yes I have a guide book but want opinions of people who have been there.
And by the way, I have not asked for your opinion on my hotel. Thank you StuDudley an joannyc for your advice.

For woinparis: isn't that common courtesy with all travels...not something that needs to be taught

WoinParis May 4th, 2017 03:37 AM

Exactly my point.
That courtesy extends in writing.
Did your post have these magical words ?
I failed to see them.

Hi wordsmith1, below is my TR that includes Lyon. Unfortunately, we had to cut it short but I do mention a couple of sites and restos that might be of interest to you.

We found the tourist center near our hotel to be spectacular. But, we went to the older area first and had our best meal there.

Have a great time and please report back!

Our first day in Lyon we did the (English language) walking tour from the Tourist Information office. We found it a good introduction to the city, including the traboules.

Hi wordsmith1,

I don't do a full-blown TR but a pictorial TR instead. Here's a link to my photos which included 5 nights in Lyon last September.

Each location is noted on the first pic of that segment. Lyon was my second location so those pics are pretty close to the front of the album.

Hope you find them somewhat helpful!
