Lyon Presqu'ile appartmenthotels
We'd like to travel to Lyon late spring or early summer. I've located two appartment-hotels. They seem to offer the advantage of a little more room than the typical hotel. As we'd like to stay about two weeks and use Lyon as a base for visiting other towns, I was wondering if anyone had information they could offer on Citadines Presqu'ile or Resideal Bellecour or any other establishments like these two. From what I've read, I think I'd like to stay on the Presqu'ile but am certainly open to any suggestions.

Coco, did you top this thread because you are looking for info on appart-hotels in Lyon? I can give some feedback on the Citadines establishment on the Presqu'ile, if that's any help.

Hi hanl, not exactly. Jim wrote me for a stay in Dijon but unfortunately we can't make it. I just wanted to top his posting.
I'm sure Jim would like to have your advice! :-) |
OK, makes sense now! :)
My mother and aunt stayed for just over a week at the Citadines on the Presqu'ile. I was living in Lyon then so visited them in their accommodation a few times. Anyway the residence/hotel is very well located on a little pedestrian street just off one of the popular restaurant streets in Lyon (rue Mercière) and a short walk from the metro (Cordeliers or Bellecour), the old town and the rue de la République. They had a 2-room apartment with a double bed plus fold-out sofa bed in the living room. My mum slept on the sofa-bed and said it was fine and comfortable enough. The apartment was spacious enough for two, with a decent kitchen area and living room. They enjoyed their stay. One thing worth noting, however, is that there is no air-conditioning (as far as I remember), though I think there was at least one fan (I don't remember them finding it too hot, despite being there during a warm spell.) It would be worth requesting a room at the back (overlooking the courtyard) rather than the street, as there are a few restaurants and bars nearby with outdoor tables, which could be noisy in the evenings (especially if it's warm and windows are open). Hope that helps. |
Thanks Hanl. We did go to Lyon and stay in Citadines. Your advice is right on target. I wish I had known it at the time. It really was a nice area but it was warmer than expected and we were on the street side. With open windows we got quite a bit of noise throughout the night. We thoroughly enjoyed Lyon in any case.
