Lyon Hotels

I am studying in Grenoble right now and am planning on heading to Lyon with 5 other friends this weekend. Any ideas for less-expensive hotels or hostels? Restaurants? Fun, free places or things to do? Thank you!

Check out the city of Lyon web site; it has lots of good information and often hotel deals.

We stayed at the Kyriad and got our room through Expedia--it was very nice and reasonable.

You are going to love Lyon. Spent four nights there in May. Stayed at La Residence on rue Victor Hugo, just 2 blocks from Gare Perrache. A double was only 68€ and all rooms have a/c and a mini bar (with enough empty space for your bottle of water!). I believe they have triples for only a few euros more. A full buffet breakfast is only 6€ with good quality items including eggs, meats and cheeses.

Don't miss the ruins of the Roman theatre, vieux Lyon and for a great view of the entire area, take a long ride on the tram.

We also stayed at La Residence...very handy and reasonably priced. Take the tram around the city that you can get off and get on again..great value and lots to see.Lyon park is lovely.Lots of good eating places. Macon wine country and the communite de Taize nearby are interesting places to see too.
