Lyon/Grenoble/Annecy

Hi,
Flying to Lyon on Friday and have approx 5 - 6 days before I want to arrive in Paris. Have not been to Lyon since 2007 and have not been to the other locations at all.

I'm thinking Sat/Sun and maybe Mon in Lyon. Mon might be at wineries as discussed below.

Then off to Annecy Mon eve. I would like to see the Gorges du Fier (Oct 15 is last day so I will just make it!), go on a lake cruise, bike around the Lake and maybe hike. Also see old town and Chateau de Montrottier. So Tues and most of Wed here and then head to Grenoble.

In Grenoble, I would like to see centre-ville, go up the telepherique and visit the museums. So a day and a half here and head to Paris.

Any comments on this?

Any thoughts on Hotel Des Artistes in Lyon?

If possible, I would like to visit Condrieu just south of Lyon. My favorite wine is from there! I won't have a car - is it possible to visit here without one?

Thanks.

We stayed in the Hotel des Artistes several years ago, and recommended it to friends who spent a couple of days there this spring. It is nicely furnished, reasonable, comfortable, and in a great location in Lyon.

Annecy and surrounding area are truly lovely; you will enjoy it, I'm sure. We stayed at the hotel du Palais de l'Isle, and it was situated right in the old town by the canal. Idyllic setting.

Thanks grandmere!

Just booked Hotel des Artistes for $110/night.

Will look into the Annecy Hotel as well.

LOVE Annecy. If I remember correctly, Tuesday is their market in the old town. We really enjoyed the MS Libellule lunch/tour of the lake. "Our" hotel is Splendid Hotel--good price for excellent quality (breakfast much less expensive in a café, however). For inexpensvive but still on the canal...the downtown Ibis.

Food Recs for Annecy: Brasserie St. Maurice, Auberge du Lyonnais (for traditional brasserie right on the canal), LÉtage for fondue, raclette & tartiflettes...man, I dream of their Savoyarde cuisine!

Have a great time!
