Lyon - Gastronomic Eating Vacation info needed

I have always wanted to go to Lyon because I understand they have some of the best food in the world. I am not any sort of "food snob" but just clearly love to enjoy a good meal. I like surprises so it does not necessarily have to be ***** and the most expensive. I would like anyones feedback if they have done this or have found a place they enjoyed while in Lyon.

I went to Lyon a couple of years ago and pretty much had good food at most places. I would ask locals.

Go to any outdoor place in Vieux Lyon. Not only is the food wonderful but the ambience and scenery is special. I really recommend that you try the Salade Lyonnaise. I love it.

My favourite inexpensive restaurant in Lyon is LA VOUTE, at 11 Place Antonin Gourju. You will find delectable pates and quennelles here at very reasonable prices, and you can dress casually. In '99 they had a "macaroon" in the Michelin Guide.
