Lyon France airport

Do any of you wonderful people know which airlines fly into Lyon? Could fly into Paris, then train to Lyon, but thought flying might be easiest. The original flight will depart from the US - would prefer to NOT do the Gatwick/Heathrow transfer.

If we do the Paris to Lyon option, is the train station @ CDG -- and where does it arrive in Lyon?

Thanks. I have just started investigating all this, but my time is short and a decision needs to be made very quickly.

We did the London (BA flight)to Lyon transfer round trip two years ago and had terrible delays, both in London and Lyon. I would have preferred the train from Paris to Lyon rather than the air transfer from London to Lyon, but we were not able to get a flight into Paris from LAX. When we go to France, I always prefer flying into Paris and then taking a train to our destination outside of Paris. Since trains leave more frequently than planes, we don't have to worry about missing connections, the way you do on planes. Try googling French railroads for high speed trains and times. I wouldn't think it would be a long train ride. Good luck.

This site may help while ou wait for someone who has flown to Lyon. I'd like to visit there, hopefully this coming summer. Last time I checked fares on AA I could fly from DFW to Lyon, don't recall the specifics of the connections.

Anytime you want to know who flies into a given airport, google the airport, go to the airport's site, and voilà.

In this case, ask google for Lyon airport and google presents http://www.lyon.aeroport.fr - (currently only in French, they're working on the English version, but it's all self-explanatory) - go there, click on Compagnies aériennes (under Infos vols - flight information) and you get a list from Aer Lingus to Twin Jet.

Click on any of them to get to their website and input flights to or from Lyon on your given dates.

Apparent choices for US-Lyon connection includes AMS (4 KLM flights a day), FRA (5 Lufthansa + 3 Air France) among others.

Meanwhile, TGV from CDG to Lyon takes only two hours.

Bonjour jill_h,

You may also consider flying into Geneva, from where you can connect to Lyon via direct bus or trains (about 2 hours).

Took TGV from CDG to Lyons, arrived at Part Dieu station. Once you get out of Paris, the countryside is nice to watch go by.

Thanks guys. I'll have a little more info later today and will make a decision. I do like the idea of the train because they do leave a little more frequently than the planes, so won't have to worry about delays/missed flights.

Two hrs by train from Paris to Lyon. That sounds good to me. Much better than sitting around an airport waiting for a connection and in my case a delayed plane.

Can anyone recommend a hotel that is very close to the airport in Lyons? Cheap but clean as we will only have a few hours there.
Thanks!
