I got the Pittsburgh joke and laughed. Very good. I hope to visit Paris and Lyon during my next trip to France.

Have been there twice( twenty five years apart).The first time we could not get into the place we wanted to stay ( hadn't booked in advance) and the proprietor suggested a place across the road and we got in there. Twenty five years later we again arrived without booking and went to the Tourist Office who referred us to a place which met our requirements. Imagine our surprise when it turned out to be the same place!The city is great and a good way to get an overview if you don't have much time is to take the hop on/hop off bus. Have fun!

I will like to join the crowd singing Lyon's praises. Interesting, fascinating, lovely city. As far as food, strongly recommend the restaurant La Machonnerie, located on Rue Tramassac in Old Lyon.

This is ridiculous thinking. The fact is that tourists avoid most of the world for very good reasons. Almost everyplace that no one goes is a good place to avoid.

That's funny. I have never heard of that expression and especially related to Geneva. I googled with key-words "Faux-Paris Genève" (you said it's a French expression so I used Genève instead of Geneva) and have not got much results, especially nothing relating Genève and Faux-Paris. And I'm honestly confused aboutn this comparison because I see no smililarities between them of course except French is spoken in both. Are you sure it's not about Paris and other (maybe French and not Swiss) city?
