Lyon

Can anyone recommend good hotel in Lyon? We will stay three nights in October. I haven't seen anything that looks good yet.

Hi Janet!

Have you seen the Carlton? Has good comments.

We can highly recommend the Le Phenix. The hotel is right on the river and just a block from the old town area, which is very lively. We really enjoyed our stay in Lyon October, 1913.

I stay at the Hôtel La Résidence.

What would "look good" to you?

We stayed at Hotel des Artistes on Rue Gaspard Andre in November 2015. Very comfortable, quiet, with friendly staff; we did not do breakfast as we were full from the night before. While 1/2 block from the river, it is easy to walk over to the Vieux Lyon. I agree, it was difficult to select a hotel, but we really felt we made a good choice. Let us know if you need more info - we walked almost everywhere!

I loved the Hotel des Beaux Arts, an Accor. http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-...el/index.shtml

The location is just fantastic. They seem to have renovated/updated style from when I was there a few years ago, unfortunately (it was traditional and now is modern), but some folks go for that. In any case, the locaiton is still the same and they have good service. When in doubt, I often book an Accor hotel in France.

I also wonder why you can't find any hotel in Lyon that looks good, or what you are seeking.

Depends on what you're looking for. I've stayed at Coeur de Loges in the heart of Vieux Lyon (wonderful), the Residence (convenient and inexpensive) and at a tiny cheap hotel near the Perrache train station. What level are you looking for.

If you want somewhere that looks good, you could do worse than the Villa Florentine.

You could also try the newly opened Hotel Fourviere. As Belinda above mentioned, the Cour des Loges is pretty spectacular and worth a look.

Hubby and I would highly recommend Les Loges du Theatre in Lyon. (we stayed in September 2014) It's a B&B rather than a hotel. Anne, the host, is just lovely and very accommodating. The breakfast is also lovely.

There are some great restaurants and cafes in the area (Anne will give you lots of tips and ideas).
